Advancing Human Freedom through Technology

Research and education that empowers individuals.

Our connected, digital world has fundamentally transformed the way we communicate and access information. The internet lifts us up; but it has also become the most potent enabler of totalitarian surveillance that the world has ever seen.

In an era where our lives have increasingly shifted to the digital realm, it's clear that many rights have not fully followed. The Ludlow Institute is dedicated to the vital mission of ensuring that freedom is more than just an ideal, but a lived experience. We recognize that modern technology can be one of our greatest weapons in this fight — we just need to learn how to use it.

We research and teach people how to harness empowering innovation in the modern world to ensure that privacy, individual autonomy, and human dignity extend to the digital landscape.

Privacy Research

As we dive into the modern world, let’s not just explore innovation — Let’s explore how we can protect the freedom that made this innovation possible. We research and test the latest tools to learn how to best help create a more private, safe internet for all.

As we enjoy technology that pushes the boundaries of what’s possible, we can also uphold the fundamental right to privacy for billions of people across the globe.

Educational Videos

We create educational videos that teach people about new technologies that can help them protect the private spaces of their digital lives. We make tutorials, explainers, and interview top experts in the privacy space to give people the resources they need to feel empowered in their digital lives. We publish these videos on our channel “NBTV”, which has over 750k subscribers across platforms and 55 million views.

Community Support

We harness the experts in our community as a resource from which everyone can learn. By creating communal spaces, we allow people to crowdsource information, and take the knowledge they get from our educational material to the next level.

“Naomi Brockwell researches her cybersecurity topics carefully, and provides clear, approachable, practical advice for the lay public to protect themselves from the hostile environment we inhabit today.”

— Phil Zimmermann, creator of PGP

“Thank you for helping bring awareness to the importance of privacy. This channel has educated me so much and has helped me make changes to my digital footprint.”

— @aaronz3073, NBTV viewer

“Your videos have given me so much knowledge on privacy when I used to brush it off as unimportant. Thank you for helping me to realize the importance of privacy.”
